Fall Life Skills
Life skills are year-round skills. You need them whether it’s spring, Christmas, or the middle of August. One way to practice life skills across differentiated settings is to fit them to seasonal themes. After all, we need to know about budgeting whether we are buying a pumpkin for Halloween or making a routine grocery stop. That is why AGU is offering a Fall Life Skills Activity Bundle.
What is the Fall Life Skills Activity Bundle? It is a bundle of six different life skill activities with fall themes. In this post, we are highlighting the activities in this bundle and how they can support life skill development. AGU offers many seasonal and holiday versions of these activities (a Halloween Bundle, for example!), so keep an eye out for other Life Skills Bundles throughout the year!
While the activities come together in a bundle, you can also get them individually if there are ones you prefer most. It is up to you which you find most helpful. So let’s take a closer look!
Color By Code - Map Key Icons
Color by code combines the fun of coloring with practicing the important life skill of identifying map key icons. From bus stops to rest areas to ATMs, there are many important icons that are helpful to familiarize yourself with in the event you need to use a map or a navigation app. It also makes for a fun warm-up or exit ticket with its straightforward instructions and simple layout. Fall Color by Code comes with 10 different worksheets.
Fall Recipes
This exercise is all about recipe reading comprehension. Students can read the recipe and answer accompanying reading comprehension and critical thinking questions. Reading recipes is a crucial life skill whether you intend to bake fancy treats or follow the instructions off the back of a frozen dinner. Seasonal recipe reading comprehension can guide students toward feeling more empowered to seek out their own recipes and make their own food preparation choices. This activity covers 10 recipes.
Fall Job Descriptions
Looking for a career exploration activity with a seasonal twist? Our Fall Job Descriptions Activity has you covered! It includes real job site photos and reading comprehension questions for students to explore options such as leaf removal specialist and apple cider mill operator. The Fall Job Descriptions activity includes 10 jobs with 4 levels of differentiation each.
Fall Next Dollar Up Task Cards
Next Dollar Up is all about helping students understand prices and budgets. Rounding up is a quick activity that can work as a quick warm-up or a part of personal finance and money lessons. Flash cards are also a great way for students to practice with each other. This activity includes 40 multiple-choice and 40 open-response task cards.
Fall Next Dollar Up Worksheets
Much like the flashcards, worksheets offer different approaches to practicing rounding up as part of budgeting and personal finance skills. Whereas flashcards can be great collaborative tools, worksheets are great for individual practice and can be helpful as warm-ups or exit tickets. This activity has 8 worksheets, each with a dollar bill, multiple-choice, and open-response version.
Pumpkin Smoothies - Visual Recipe
Reading recipes is one helpful way to practice cooking life skills. Following a recipe is even better! Pumpkin smoothies don’t require excessive equipment and can be practiced in a class setting. It is one of many No Bake visual recipes that AGU offers year-round.
